Courtney Garner

Courtney graduated from the University of Kentucky (twice) – because who wouldn’t want to double down on that alma mater love? First, she snagged a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and then she rolled up her sleeves for a Master of Social Work. She’s not just a Licensed Clinical Social Worker; she’s the “fearless leader” of clinical supervision, guiding those brave Certified Social Workers on their quest for independent licensure.

With 10+ years of hands-on experience, Courtney approaches therapy with a sprinkle of being-a -total-brain-nerd flair! Trained in EMDR (you know, that fancy Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing stuff), she's a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional who’s all about untangling the knots of trauma. Her professional journey began in the realms of early childhood trauma which is a very helpful place to start when it comes to working with trauma in adults.

A staunch activist for social justice and equity, Courtney spent her youth canvassing, tabling, and occasionally joining the ranks of passionate protesters. These days, her activism shows in her parenting style, embodying those ideals she fought so hard for.

Her intrigue in Human Sexuality and Education took her to study LGBTQ Health Promotion in the Netherlands, adding an international twist to her already impressive skill set. Now, she channels her extensive knowledge into helping women navigate the tricky waters of anxiety. After years in a psychiatric hospital, Courtney’s a pro at managing the complexities of anxiety and suicidality, with a comforting presence in that outpatient setting. She’s here to support you on your journey, with a touch of quirkiness and a whole lot of heart!
